Pilot Study Progress

A pilot study will be conducted for new water treatment of wells 4A and 6 to improve water quality in the township. The pilot study operator has been chosen as Roberts Water Technologies with Township Engineering Firm, Remington & Vernick conducting oversight of the pilot study operations and review/recommendations for improvements. The pilot study will be conducted over the summer with reports and recommendations to follow shortly thereafter.

USDA Rural Development Funding Progress:

As the Mayor is aware that the neccessary water & sanitary sewer system improvements will be a significant cost he is exploring ways to minimize the cost to the residents. The Township Engineering firm, Remington & Vernick, was asked to submit information to USDA Rural Development to determine Township eligibility for help in project financing. USDA has reported results that Greenwich is eligible for financing through low interest loans and potentially partial grants for the future water & sanitary sewer projects. The Mayor and other Township representatives have a preapplication meeting schedule with USDA Rural Development for early July 2003 to further discuss the options at hand.

Additionally, the Township has submitted preliminary documentation to have the water & sewer projects considered for low interest financing through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection low interest financing. The Township is making efforts to explore the financing route that will provide the lowest cost to Gibbstown residents.
